In September 2015,  Nara Chandrababu Naidu launched the nation’s first river interlinking project, the Godavari-Krishna river interlink. It is known as Pavitra Sangam and empties floodwater from the Godavari River into the Krishna River 174 kilometers (108 miles) away in Ibrahimpatnam, close to Vijayawada. The Godavari River’s water is lifted by the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Project and pumped into the Krishna River’s Polavaram Right Canal.

The Pattiseema project was created throughout a 12-month period, from March 2015 to March 2016. In September 2015, the first pump was officially opened, completing the link between Godavari and Krishna. The project was the “first and fastest such irrigation project in the country to be completed in time, without any budget improvements,” according to the Limca Book of Records.Know more about TDP Developments and TDP Achievements from our website.

Nara Chandrababu Naidu laid the groundwork for the Godavari-Penna rivers interlinking project in November 2018. The project is expected to cost 83,796 crore and be completed in five phases. The project’s goal is to use the Krishna River to transport Godavari water to the Penna River.
